Canada, the United States and Mexico will begin the final phase of implementing the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures, No. 15.  Starting on July 5th  2006  all wood packaging including ship borne dunnage, pallets, crating, load boards, etc. must be treated by one of the following methods:

1.         Heat Treated to a core temperature of 56°C for a period of at least 30 minutes;  or

2.         Fumigated with methyl bromide at specific rates listed in ISPM No. 15

In addition, all wood packaging must bear the internationally recognized mark.

Consignments not properly treated or not bearing the mark may be refused entry to the country.
