Dear NAPPO stakeholders,
Thanks for your continued inquiries concerning the timing, venue and modality for the 2021 NAPPO Annual Meeting.
As you are aware, because of COVID-19 travel restrictions and concerns for the well-being of all our stakeholders, we were unable to hold the 2020 Annual Meeting.
You may recall that earlier this year we had agreed to partner with the North American Safeguarding Conference and hold both events - one after the other - in August 2021 at the OMNI Shoreham in Washington DC.
Unfortunately, due to continued concerns about the severity and duration of the pandemic and the uncertainties associated with availability of the vaccine, the NAPPO Executive Committee reconsidered the options for holding a face-to-face meeting in 2021. At their December governance meeting they unanimously endorsed the idea of planning and delivering an entirely virtual NAPPO Annual Meeting in 2021. On course with the normal country rotation, the United States National Plant Protection Organization (USDA-APHIS-PPQ) will host the 2021 NAPPO Annual Meeting.
PROPOSED TIMING - The 2021 Annual Meeting is being planned for some time during the first two weeks of November 2021.
NEW FORMAT - The 2021 NAPPO Annual Meeting will be entirely virtual.
YOUR INPUT AND IDEAS ARE ESSENTIAL – Please be aware that early in the new year, you will be receiving a short questionnaire designed to collect your input/ideas that will help USDA/APHIS/PPQ and the NAPPO Secretariat shape/inform on the timing, topics and modalities for the 44th Annual Meeting.
Many thanks for your continued support of our Regional Plant Protection Organization!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Bloem
